This four-year bachelor’s program allows students to gain an understanding of physics, math and engineering that can be applied to innovative careers in high-tech industries. Graduates from our engineering physics program can become licensed professional engineers in Texas after passing the licensing exams and completing the required years of experience.

Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in engineering physics can focus on mechanical engineering, ensuring they have a solid foundation of engineering principles with the specialized knowledge needed for a career in the industry.

The engineering physics program is the study of the combined disciplines of physics, engineering and mathematics in order to develop an understanding of the interrelationships of these three disciplines. The educational objective is to address the needs of students seeking innovative careers in high-tech areas where multiple engineering disciplines merge (e.g. electro-mechanical industries).

The majority of graduates of the program enter industry in diverse areas such as mechanical controls, digital and analog electronics, nuclear instrumentation, software development, and manufacturing process control. Others choose to attend graduate school in either engineering or physics programs.
