This four-year course is perfect for those returning to education who may not have the correct qualifications. If you’ve only studied up to GCSE Level but have always aspired to working in accounting or finance, we pride ourselves on accepting applicants who have previously ruled out a degree based on their past grades.In your first year, you’ll complete four foundation year modules designed to prepare you for the next three years, covering study skills and an introduction to accounting and financial management.After this, you’ll study the theory and practice of accounting and financial management. You’ll develop an understanding of ethical principles and dilemmas to create effective solutions. Our course is designed to develop your employability skills, such as evaluation of data and how best to use contemporary information and communications technology. You’ll learn how to use leading accounting software used in the workplace, and the most up-to-date knowledge on tax and accounting standards.Throughout your studies you’ll be taught via three methods: lectures, workshops and seminars (average contact hours: 12 per week). Expect to hear interesting talks, participate in debate and conversation and apply your knowledge in a practical way.Assessments come in a mix of formats, also depending on your chosen options. These include essays, portfolios, exams, reports, group presentations and case studies.We use a range of new and traditional assessment methods to allow you to explore and express your abilities. They are not just a way of assessing whether something has been learned, but an opportunity to develop skills that will equip you in your life outside of university.We aim to provide all the support you need to make sure you have the confidence and understanding to engage with your assessments.
