This degree prepares you for an exciting career in computer technology by tackling computing from the hardware perspective.

If you like math and physics, love to think and have an urge to take apart your computer to figure out how it works, this cutting-edge program is right for you. The program emphasizes practical aspects of computing and the use of computer-based and other solid-state electronic devices in control, manufacturing and research.

Computing and Solid-State Device Technology (CAST) is a unique Honours undergraduate program combining a thorough training in physics and natural sciences with an extensive education in computing. It offers a four-year Honours program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Computing and Solid-State Device Technology degree as well as a Co-op option. The program emphasizes practical aspects of computing; use of computer-based and other solid-state electronic devices in control, manufacturing and research; and the skills needed to interface and use solid-state devices in real-world applications. Students participating in this program should expect a considerable lab load.

The Computing and Solid-State Device Technology Co-op program combines academic and work terms over a four and one-half year period. Students spend two years in an academic setting, where they acquire the necessary background prior to taking the first work placement

Applicants must have Senior Secondary school credential appropriate for entry to university in your home country; academically rigorous grade 12 year; Minimum B- average (higher for some programs). Applicants who have successfully completed the IB diploma with the appropriate prerequisite subjects will be considered for admission. Students must have completed a (Grade 12) Senior High School Graduation Certificate (3 Years) plus final transcript showing Grade 12 first and second term grades. English proficiency requirements: IELTS - overall 6.5, no band below 6.0, TOEFL - overall 88, with minimum 21 on speaking and 21 on writing, MELAB - overall 85, no other part under 80, CAEL - overall 70, no other band score under 60, IELP Level 5 - Successful completion of Level 5 of the Brock Intensive English Language program.
