The Programme of Risk Management Science has been the leading pioneer in nurturing well-trained professionals in the risk management fields since its foundation in 2000. The Programme is suitable for students who have strong aspirations towards mathematical and scientific methodologies, and are interested to pursue a career in the financial industry and related areas.

Highlights

The curriculum of Risk Management Science is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to understand risk management from both theoretical and application perspectives in insurance, finance and other related areas. Risk management is an interdisciplinary subject, so in addition to statistics, our students will receive a solid training in other foundation subjects including finance, economics, accounting, mathematics and computer science. To meet the financial industry’s increasing demand for data talents and experts in the epoch of Big Data, the Programme launches a new Risk Analytics study stream, for elite students who are interested in pursuing frontier knowledge in big data and a career in the finance industry.

Risk Analytics Stream

The Risk Analytics Stream places emphasis on statistical science and computer science, including but not limited to subjects such as statistical inference, actuarial science, and financial mathematics. Upon fulfilment of the major requirements, students admitted to this stream can also declare Statistics as their second major subject.

For applicants who have completed only the first year of IB Diploma studies with outstanding results, may be considered admission under special circumstances on individual merits case-by-case. Mature applicants should be aged 23 or above on 1 September in the year in which admission is sought, provided they are able to show either by publication or by other acceptable evidence that they have achieved sufficient competence in their chosen field of study to justify admission; or have shown exceptional ability in appropriate academic or professional fields. English Language Requirements: IELTS: 6.0; TOEFL (iBT): 80; SAT Reasoning Test (Old): Essay - 8; SAT (New) Evidence-Based Reading and Writing: 590; ACT combined English/ Writing or English Language Arts (ELA): 23; GCSE/ IGCSE/ GCE-OL: C; GCE-AL/AS: E; IB: 4; HKDSE: Level 3; HKALE/ HKCEE: E/Level 2; Australian State or Territory High School Certificate Grade 12 English: 80%; Canadian Grade 12 English: 70%; Indian Central or State Board Exam Grade 12 English: 80%; Malaysian UEC-Senior English Language: B4; Singapore GCE A-Level H1 General Paper: C.
