Gain a focused background in commerce and the in-depth knowledge of a mathematics program with this dual degree.

This dual degree combines the business skills and acumen of a Bachelor of Commerce with the analytical and quantitative abilities of a Bachelor of Mathematics in a single four-year program.

Your compulsory commerce courses will build a solid foundation of business skills that you'll apply to the challenges of the contemporary business environment. In the mathematics component, you'll develop either a comprehensive knowledge in a single field of mathematics, or a high level of sophistication in the applications of mathematics.

Modern computation, advances in scientific technology and the increasing production of data have all increased the scope for applications of mathematics. Graduates with high-level quantitative and analytic skills, augmented with practical commerce training, play a key role at the forefront of new developments in fields from engineering and the physical sciences to economics, information technology, molecular biology, accounting, business information systems and finance.

Pure Mathematics

This major is focused on the intrinsic nature and fundamental properties of mathematics, and recognises its ubiquity, universality and beauty.

You'll develop high-level skills in critical, analytical and abstract thinking, and study frameworks for deeper understanding of other areas of mathematics, such as applied mathematics, mathematical physics and statistics.

You'll also have the opportunity to acquire a solid grounding in the key areas of pure mathematics, as well as opportunities to undertake focused study in advanced courses.

IB score varies based on the subject taken. International Baccalaureate Diploma Scores: Minimum of 26 - 42. To be offered a place in an undergraduate program, you need to have successfully completed Queensland Year 12, or a qualification equivalent to Queensland Year 12, with the required minimum entry score for the program you're interested in studying. English Language Scores: IELTS: Overall Band Score of 6.5 AND a minimum score of 6 in each sub-band of Writing, Reading, Speaking and Listening; TOEFL (Internet-Based-iBT): Overall score 87 with a Writing score of 21 and Reading, Speaking and Listening scores of 19; TOEFL (Paper-based): Overall score of 570 and a minimum score of 5.0 in the Test of Written English (TWE) and 54 in Listening and Reading; PTE: Overall score of 64 with 60 in each communicative skills section; CAE/CPE: Overall Cambridge English Scale (CES) score of 176 with a minimum score of 169 in each skill; BE: A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all four macro skills.
