Biology is the science of life and is at the forefront of social change, from the use of genetically-modified organisms to humanity’s effect on the environment, and sustainable energy and food production. As a biology student at Kent you study living organisms and their interactions with the environment, investigating life forms ranging from viruses and bacteria to complex animals and plants.Choose Biology at Kent because:* our Biology degree is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology (RBS)* you receive extensive practical training in our world-class laboratories, with opportunities to work on live research projects and develop skills in the presentation and communication of biological data* your lecturers are active researchers and innovative teachers, so you are taught the most up-to-date science in a stimulating and supportive environment * we have a dedicated careers and placements team to help you prepare for life after Kent and are ranked 5th for graduate prospects in The Complete University Guide 2021* we collaborate with research groups in industry and academia and have excellent links with local employers, including East Malling Research, Cairn Research, Pfizer and Public Health England. You spend a year studying abroad at one of our partner institutions in North America, Europe and South East Asia, where you are taught in English. This takes place between your second and final year.A range of optional modules allows you to specialise in the areas that interest you most and includes modules focusing on neuroscience, climate change and conservation, immunology, virology, aging, bioinformatics and genomics, cell signalling, pathogens and pathogenicity and primate biology. In your final year, you complete your own research project.
