If you want to explore how the mind works, question why people behave the way they do and help others lead their best lives, this degree is the ideal choice. Western’s Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) will pave the way for a range of career options, including further study required to become a psychologist.

Psychology at Western combines evidence-based biological, cognitive, neurological, social, developmental, and personality theory with statistical expertise and practical experience. This course is strongly vocational, equipping you with the specialist psychological and research skills you will need to discover more about human behaviour and answer questions about things we don’t yet understand.

As part of your four-year degree, you will be taught by some of the most respected experts in the field and gain the opportunity to undertake local and international work placements. Additional study is needed to become a practising psychologist. This degree gives you a thorough grounding in psychology and the academic qualifications to take your ambition to the next level.

Students must have Australian Year 12 Higher School Certificate in or outside Australia; International Baccalaureate in Australia; New Zealand National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA), Level 3. English language requirements: IELTS (Academic version): 6.5 overall score, minimum 6.0 in each subtest; TOEFL internet-based score: Total score 82, Writing 21, Speaking 18, Reading 13, Listening 13; Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE): 58 overall; No communication skills less than 50; Successful completion of three years (Gao San) with a minimum score for entry to Second Tier universities in China from the National Entrance Examination (Gao Kao) cut off thresholds for Science and the relevant province, or successful completion of the first year of a Bachelor’s degree at a recognized university.
