Our Youth and Children's Studies program explores the culture of childhood and adolescence in the contemporary world.

Learn research strategies and analytical and practical skills to successfully engage with and make a positive change in the lives of children and youth.

Our program looks at children and youth from many different perspectives, using tools from psychology, criminology, media studies, Indigenous studies, health studies, literature and history

You’ll graduate with a range of skills that will help you approach contemporary social, cultural, educational, legal and health issues that face children and those who work with them.

Top-ranking Youth and Children’s Studies graduates will be guaranteed admission to Laurier’s Bachelor of Education (BEd) program as long as they meet the minimum admission requirements for the BEd program.

Students must have completed an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent qualification. English language requirement: Internet-based testing (TOEFL iBT): an overall score of 83 or higher with a minimum score of 20 in each component; Paper-based testing: 560 overall, IELTS: An academic score of 6.5 or higher with a minimum of 6.0 in each band, PTE: 59 overall or higher, CAE: Overall score of 176. In acknowledgement of the various grading scales used throughout China, the grading scale on the transcript will be used. Grades are converted to reflect a 50% pass.
