勞里埃大學(xué)

Laurier's Bachelor of Education (BEd) program is highly progressive and future-oriented. Our courses blend 21st-century skills and global perspectives with a focus on the diverse needs of children and youth in today's schools.

Our full-time, two-year BEd program is designed to prepare you for teaching primary and junior levels (Grades K-6), or junior and intermediate levels (Grades 4-10).

A key strength of our program that differentiates us among faculties of education within Ontario are the strong links with five local school boards where you’ll apply the theory you learn in your university classes to the teaching experiences of your field placements.

Program Highlights

Our teacher education program is built on the Professional Development School (PDS) model. You’ll spend two days a week throughout the year in PDS placement schools, in addition to your scheduled block practicums. In total, you’ll spend 40 weeks teaching in a classroom or alternative learning setting.

We’re partnered with the Waterloo Region, Waterloo Catholic, Upper Grand, Wellington Catholic, and Halton District school boards – providing you with extensive, in-depth and sustained field experiences.

Our Professional Learning Seminars are mandatory courses you’ll attend weekly, during which you’ll confront problems of practice and reflect on your learning, connect practice back to theory, share the uniqueness of your school sites with your peers, and discuss some of the day-to-day aspects of being a teacher.

Funding

We offer 15 entrance scholarships for each division (Primary/Junior and Junior/Intermediate) that are valued at $500 each, to our top-ranking applicants who qualify for an offer of admission. No application is required. (Successful applicants who are granted scholarships will be notified in their offer of admission letter from the university).

Indigenous scholarships will be available to qualified applicants who self-identify as having an Indigenous background, heritage or ancestry during the admission process to the BEd program at Laurier.
